Geminds Start Tonight, Fireball Seen Over Denver, Colorado

Not sure if it was directly related to the Geminid Meteor Showers of 2008, but a bright fireball was spotted over Colorado last night. My guess is that it was probably a stray since reports had it moving from the west to the east across the sky. Geminds should travel in the opposite direction based on their radiant which is the constellation Gemini. The fireball was seen across a wide area around the Denver Metropolitan area. It occurred around 8:45 PM in the evening.

The Geminids start to increase in rate tonight. The Geminids will be peaking between December 13th and 14th, where up to 120 or 150 meteors will be visible. The best time to be out is after midnight, after the moon has gone done. There is will be lots of moonlight around for this year's Geminid meteor shower, much like last month's Leonid meteor shower. So it will be best to get out once the moon has set.
