Moon and Venus Pair up in Sky on New Year's Eve

Venus and the moon come together one final time to close out 2008 on New Year's Eve. These two will be the brightest objects in the sky, and they should be visible for a couple of hours after sunset. Look towards the south western sky, and Venus will be the brightest object nearby.

For locations in North America, these two heavenly bodies will be in bed and will have set by the time it is to ring in the new year.

In West Virginia, the moon should set a little after 9 PM. No New Year's Eve party for the moon!
