Search For the Star of Bethlehem

Just wanted to mention here that the Discovery Network is airing a program at 9 PM Eastern about the what the Magi may have seen in the sky at the time that Jesus was born.

The Search For the Star of Bethlehem will look at historical texts dating back to 50 AD from different cultural perspectives that seem to co-relate that some sort of astronomical event did in fact occur a little over 2000 years ago.

The program then links the historical perspective with new scientific data collected by radio telescopes that point to the fact that an amazing astronomical event did possibly occur.

There are many other theories surrounding the Star of Bethlehem, such as comets, and the alignment of Saturn and Jupiter. These will also be covered by the program

The "Search for the Star of Bethlehem also examines different groups of people who were studying the skies at the time with different theories as to who were the magi. Most theories point toward the idea that they were from Persians, and there are several possible groups of Persians who were interested in night sky events.
