Quadrantid Meteor Showers a Tough Catch in the United States

The Quadrantid meteor shower is scheduled to peak on the afternoon of January 3rd, based on Eastern Standard Time. So most meteor shower watchers will be left out if the live in the United States. You may have a chance of catching the tail end of the meteor shower during the late evening hours.

The Quadrantid meteor showers are known to have a very sharp peak. You will have to be in India, the middle east, or central and eastern Europe to get the best showing. Expect a rate of about 20 per hour.
